This is an amazing evocation of the Paris of a time when it truly was the cultural and intellectual heart of the west. Really good read but not the usual Malory love lust and mayhem. Fabulous story-fabulous writing-who could ask for more. I took it on the plane to England. so had to look at replacing it. This novel by Dorothy Strachey, sister of famous biographer and eccentric, Lytton Strachey, is a little jewel of a well-written novel. Enjoyed the rest of it.
